Natural killer T (NKT) cells are the major early-acting immune cell type and fundamental
immune modulators in ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). Because lymphocytes are exposed
to various oxygen tensions under pathophysiologic conditions, we hypothesize that hypoxia-
